Last year’s Costa winner reveals his favourite line ever...
The line that I love, is by Robert Lull from The Quaker Graveyard in Nantucket.
it was written about one of his cousins, which appeals to me. One of his ancestors who died at sea and he’s buried in this graveyard and it has a famous first line which is "A brackish reach of shoal off Madaket."
But the very very last line and my favourite line in literature is:
"The lord survives the rainbow of his will."
I have no idea what it means and yet I have a sneaking suspicion it means everything.
