Conn Iggulden reveals his all-time favourite book...

"I’ve chosen Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, because I loved it. I read it as a kid and I’ve read it about six times since. It hits all the buttons for me: this particular boy has endless problems and he beats them all, one by one; he’s bullied terribly and he gets right into the psychology of why that works and again, he triumphs over it, and he goes through hell, but, almost like a secret power, he has this vast intelligence.

As a bright young kid, I liked this idea of having this intelligence as a way to triumph over one’s enemies: it just pushes all the right buttons for me in terms of the fantasy aspect. I’d recommend it to anyone – with a bright boy, particularly – it’s perfect. This book is an absolute joy."
