She began her career as a television actress, appearing in several popular series such as Z-Cars, The Sweeney, The Professionals and Bergerac but she is remembered mostly as the hay-fever suffering ghost Tamara Novek in the BBC children’s series Rentaghost.

In the early 1970s, she made her first attempt as a TV series scriptwriter with the ITV children’s sitcom The Kids from 47A, but did not make the full spotlight up until the six part robbery series Widows, which she produced in 1983. In 1991 she wrote the script for the crime series Prime Suspect which won her widespread recognition as well as an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America. Three years later, she formed her own television production company La Plante Productions and continued her work on TV.

In the author department, Lynda La PLante is no less of a success; in fact, all of her novels have been international bestsellers. In 2008 she was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her services to Literature, Drama and Charity while in 2009 she was inducted into the Crime Thriller Awards Hall of Fame.

Her latest book, Bloodline, the seventh of her Anna Travis detective series is also expected to soar on the bestsellers’ charts.
