“Living With The Dead” by Kelley Armstrong is a magnificent super-natural crime thriller that will keep readers entertained and enchanted to the very last page.
The book focuses on the humble life of a human girl, Robyn, who tragically lost her husband to a simple bullet. Desperate to stop grieving, Robyn throws herself back into the world of work in an attempt to forget… only to feel like she’s about to lose it all again.
Robyn is in charge of Public Relations for the world famous Portia. But suddenly, when Portia is murdered, Robyn is thrown into a world of darkness and tragedy… and things wouldn’t be nowhere near as complicated if Robyn wasn’t the main suspect.
Is it possible Robyn’s best friend is a Chaos Demon with a Werewolf boyfriend? Is it possible the Chief Officer in charge of the investigation of Portia’s murder is actually a Necromancer that is in touch with her dead husband? Robyn soon finds out anything is possible in her world.
As the eighth book in Armstrong’s Otherworld series, it brings more nail biting twists and turns that can also be read and easily followed as a stand alone book.
There are however, a few downsides to this terribly terrific tale. Armstrong has opted for the use of third person he/she instead of her usual first person. The book flicks from characters and scenes each chapter so fast it’s sometimes hard to remember who “he” or “she” is. This detail though is mostly drowned out by the fast-paced, action-filled story line.
Armstrong has created a new tale that’s just as promising as her previous novels, and yet again the door has been left wide open welcoming further mysteries that are sure to fascinate your thirst for thrillers to the very brim.
